Adult Piano Students’ Resources Just a short post today to share with you some links that your adult piano students might find useful. I suggest these more for adults than younger students as I’ve found thatย committed adult studentsย tend to have more time and interest in doingย extra background research into their studyย than, say, teenagers.

The Ravenโs Spiral Guide to Music Theoryย – quirky name for a useful summary of music theory, pitched at adults. Written very conversationally and easy to read.
Chung Fundamentals of Piano Practiceย – most people are familiar with this work online. In PDF format, it’sย a huge, unwieldy tome, but the online version is easier to read given all the hyperlinks to different sections. While I don’t always agree with his suggestions on technique and practice, it’s a good document for adult students to get more background on the different ideas around piano technique and suggestions for practice.
I check the Piano World Teachers’ Forum every week – it’s a great placeย for teachers toย share ideas and help each other with teaching issues. Piano World also has an Adult Beginners’ Forum which is great for students. Adults may also like to check out their Pianist’s Corner.

Great stuff Andrea – I love adult students (as long as they practice!) ๐
