The Importance of Creativity in Piano Education

Today, I would like to share with you a very special creative piano infographic that I have put together about a recent post I wrote.

In April, I wrote an open letter to parents of piano students and the response has been incredibly positive. It was something I had been working on for a while but wanted to perfect before I shared it with my community.

The premise of the letter was to help parents understand the reasoning behind a more creative approach to piano teaching and its effects on students.

Unfortunately, many parents push their child’s piano teacher to put their kids into an exam system. But often, this isn’t the most effective way to teach (or learn).

My “Open Letter” addressed this as I sought to explain to parents the changing nature of piano education, and music education in general.

The feedback from my community was amazing! Thanks everyone for your comments, likes and shares. It was fantastic to see the letter be so well received. I am passionate about changing how we approach piano teaching and exams and I think this letter is a valuable resource to share with your piano parents.

If you missed it, you can read and share my full Open Letter here. Alternatively, you can find a free download of a shorter version of the letter at the bottom of this post.

To help you better explain the way musical education is changing to your piano parents, I have put together this infographic. I really hope it helps.

Has This Been Helpful?

If you made use of the original “Open Letter” when it came out last month, what was the response from parents? Has it been a useful resource for your teaching?

  1. Hi Tim, I’d like to send the visual ideas as well as the full letter to parents without the extra note to teachers. Is that possible. I know you’ve got a shortened version, but the pictures are great. Mary
