I think of TopMusic as the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. This site is the whole pot of gold, and there are gold pieces in there that I did not even know existed. It is so important to have kids experience music in a way that lets them receive the information.

What was your life like before TopMusicPro?

My name is Lori and I have been teaching piano for about 35 years. Throughout my life I travel-taught, where I went to the students home. That worked really well until Covid.

Piano has always been my lifeline. It put me through college, helped me raise my children, and supplemented any job I had, and no matter where I moved I was always able to teach piano.

I still felt that something was missing in my own personal piano life. I never knew how to improv or just feel the music, and I was not confident in doing that.

What changed for you after working with TopMusicPro?

I remember one time, there was a parent who wanted her daughter to quit because she was not practising. I felt so sad because this little girl had talent and potential, but the mum would hear nothing about it.

She would not change her mind, and I remember going into the TopMusicPro community to talk about it. The information I got back had more verbiage I could use with a future parent who might want to quit.

What are your favourite resources from TopMusicPro?

On TopMusicPro they have classes, and that has helped me professionally because there was so much that I did not even know that I did not know!

I loved the classes on composing, and lead sheets. Both of those have helped me so much. Another skill I have developed is how to teach online.

I have always travel-taught. I would go to homes, but then all of a sudden I had to adjust to teaching online at my house.

There was one video Tim had up about setting up the camera for online teaching, and how to do it so you could see your hands from overhead view on screen. You can use special equipment or simply duct tape, it does not matter! You can still get results either way, whatever your budget.

Through all of it, I had some new students who did not even know me, who met me online for the first time. My old students, that I have had for years, kept on progressing as well.

I just know that teaching online works and I feel like the guidance on TopMusicPro was priceless.

Is TopMusicPro worth the investment?

Before I joined TopMusicPro, I was thinking about taking some private piano lessons myself, but even one private lesson is more expensive than the cost of a whole month of content from TopMusicPro.

I always get their newsletters and emails. It is great to stay in the loop with the most up-to-date content.

Would you recommend TopMusicPro?

I would definitely recommend TopMusicPro to fellow piano teachers. It is such a safe place where you can do no wrong and ask any question. There is a real sense of community.

In this world it is all about growing and evolving, and TopMusicPro is the best place to do that.
