What was your life like before TopMusicPro?

My name is Ellen Sample and I teach piano in Redlands, California. I have been working from my home studio for over 15 years now.

The most frustrating part about teaching in my studio was that I only had my own student experience to draw on.

I only had the experience of other teachers teaching me and one course of pedagogy in college as a part of my music major.

My teaching style came from how I was taught myself, and I did not really like the way I was taught. I was trying to mix it up for my students because I wanted to give them something better than what I had.

When you are isolated and alone in your own studio, you do not have a large community to draw new ideas from.

What changed for you after working with TopMusicPro?

TopMusicPro is universal. It is global. You have people from different countries with different ideas and different student challenges.

You can learn so much from other teachers by posing questions and asking how they deal with challenges. Tim talks to experts for his blogs, but there is so much to learn from actual teachers who are dealing with problems all over the globe.

The community on TopMusicPro is great. We get to talk about our problems and are not in competition. We just want to see others succeed and genuinely want the world to be a better place that is more connected to music.

It is a beautiful resource that you do not even realise you need when you are stuck alone in a house or studio. You do not realise how valuable that community can be.

What are your favourite resources from TopMusicPro?

The resource I love most is the music kit. There is free music that I can look at, and they categorise it so I can look at where my student is and choose a resource suitable for their level.

There is a whole library of music that you can go through that actual teachers have reviewed or posted and then commented on. This means you get a real chance to see how that music has been a benefit to students.

I have been able to create teaching programs that use new techniques with the resources I have had access to.

Is TopMusicPro worth the investment?

TopMusicPro is definitely worth the investment. Whether you make it back in increased students, increased opportunities, or you just become a better musician, it is definitely worth it.

I think that dollar for dollar, you cannot beat TopMusicPro.
